The focus of this year’s Day of Disaster Reduction is to reduce damage to critical infrastructure and disruption of basic services. This event in Tafawa Balewar Square, Lagos will bring together University and secondary school students to show them how they can reduce the disaster risks and what they need to do in disasters. The students will experience activities such as an earthquake simulation room, disaster painting exhibition and climate change games. The second event is a high-level panel on “World International Day for Disaster Reduction” and will allow participation from the institutions, community and secondary schools that will be attending.
