GIRLS’ OUTDOOR ADVENTURE IN LEADERSHIP AND SCIENCE (GOALS) – IRIS HOLZER, UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, DAVIS

Girls’ Outdoor Adventure in Leadership and Science (GOALS) at UC Davis seeks to cultivate and embolden the next generation of STEM leaders through a free, immersive, field-based summer science program inclusive of all high school girls. The program begins with a 2-week backpacking program in the summer, during which participants develop research projects, and is followed by a year-long one-on-one mentoring by a UC Davis student. The two-week trip concludes with a symposium where participants present their independent research projects.
