This project will share the results of ongoing lightning research, called "Lightning Attachment to Tall Structures in the Energy Industry". Lightning attachment - the process by which lightning "decides" where to strike - is not well understood. "Tall Structures" have recently become a larger problem as wind turbines suffer significant downtimes from lightning strikes and will get worse as blades get longer. Conducted in Australia, this research project will capture a lightning strike to the headframe at high-time resolution on multiple instruments. This data will be shared with the public through narrated multi-media presentations. The videos will include field data, explain the science revealed and present lightning safety information.
