‘SPACE IS COOL’- STUDENT OUTREACH AND EDUCATION THROUGH SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENTS ON COMMERCIAL SPACECRAFT – HOWARD TODD SMITH, JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY APPLIED PHYSICS LAB

This program is focused on using commercial spacecraft to open the scientific world to public school students who would otherwise not have extensive exposure to the scientific community. The intention is to develop and fly a student scientific experiment on the Blue Origin New Shepard commercial suborbital spacecraft, engaging the entire PS185 (Brooklyn, NY) Elementary School. Over the course of a year, each grade level will work on one aspect of the experiment, culminating in the launch and a presentation on the results.
