USING AR FOR GEOSCIENCE ED. IN LOW-INCOME SCHOOLS – DIEUWERTJE KAST, UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

Augmented Reality (AR) systems are those in which real and virtual environments and objects can coexist and be acted upon in real time (Azuma 1997). This combination of virtual and real allows users to access contextually relevant multimedia content in a way that allows for an immediate integration of new information into action by further engaging with the AR system. The Young Scientists Program (YSP) will expand the use of AR systems into all classrooms where it operates to help them meet several of the Next Generation Science Standards in the area of Earth and Space sciences.
