WE CAN SEE OUR OCEANS FROM SPACE – A TAILORED ILLUSTRATED GUIDE TO PROMOTE ENGAGEMENT WITH EARTH OBSERVATION. – ELEANOR ASHTON, NATIONAL OCEANOGRAPHY CENTRE, UNITED KINGDOM

Earth Observation (EO) via satellite-based remote sensing is a powerful way to monitor and learn about the environment and human safety and to inform actions taken to protect both. This project will help bring EO to a school-age audience and teach them how to effectively use it. Through an educational illustrated map created to complement planned activities of an existing European Space Agency project, this program will convey the relevance of EO for communities across the globe and enable them to participate in using EO information systems. The proposed maps will be targeted principally to schoolchildren and young adults and delivered via schools and colleges.
