Project Support Criteria
Entries will be judged against these criteria, with innovation, collaboration, impact, and potential longevity of value being more heavily weighted than other criteria. Projects do not have to meet all criteria to be considered.
- Demonstrates innovative ways to communicate or celebrate science
- Shows impacts of Earth and space science
- Collaborates with principals from multiple organizations or partners
- Exhibits forward thinking for the future and progression of science
- Explains the impact and-potentially-lasting impact of Earth and space science to a targeted group or larger community
- Reaches beyond a local community
- Shows capacity to grow transformative new techniques, develop new methodologies, or build new networks
- Applications for Major project support provide evidence of affiliation or support from Earth and space scientists
Examples of Events
- A crowdsourced data rescue project
- An app that can convey Earth and space science and capture people’s attention
- An outreach event around a specific Science Day
- An exhibit or talk about your science in partnership with a museum, a company, a laboratory, or a local group
- A talk about science at a local school, a tour of your workplace, or a public/student field trip
- Science events in unexpected places, such as a farmer's market, the beach, or a restaurant (“Astronomy on Tap”)
- Centennial science-sharing events at institutions or at a non-AGU conference
- Citizen science events or community science projects
