This project aims to build community among journalists and geoscience students and early professionals through a two-day course with up to three remote follow-on sessions on the effective and responsible communication of geohazards. The short course will begin with an exploration of general communication skills and will then move into established best practices and an ethical discussion specific to geohazards. The course will also include a field visit to gain a first-hand view of one of Cascadia’s threats. Through the program, scientists and journalists will be better equipped to communicate effectively with each other and with the public.
