Centennial Logo

The American Geophysical Union has been working to support and advance the Earth and space sciences for 100 years.

Founded in 1919, AGU was established by the merging of two National Research Council committees. AGU today spans 137 countries and has more than 60,000 members.

Our new Centennial logo exemplifies what we stand for as an organization. The blues represent the Earth, oceans, and space. The horizon arching through them refers to our dedication to inclusion and forward thinking.

Our new tagline, “Advancing Earth and Space Science,” captures simply the essence of who we are, what we do, and where we’re going.
