Soil erosion is a naturally occurring process of soil degradation but has been accelerated in Togo due to human actions. As soil erosion can permanently affect the land, it threatens both major cities and fishing villages. This project will work with three local communities to raise public awareness of the severity of the crisis and help residents understand how their actions, like collecting sand, further the problem. The project will culminate with an intervention training project to help inhabitants find alternative ways of making a living that do not increase soil erosion.
