This six-week science communication workshop aims to enable working level scientists to translate their scientific knowledge into effective science communication for a variety of audiences. Participants will be exposed to a diversity of science policy and communication and engagement approaches, including writing op-eds, blogs, policy memos, presentations, role-playing, writing for specific non-expert audiences, and developing a personal science communication and engagement plan. Following the workshop, there will be a networking event in Washington DC with science and technology policy experts so that course participants can apply what they have learned through targeted engagements with decision-makers.
