Biodiesel has strong potential as an alternative to petroleum, given it is easily produced from waste vegetable oil which is cheap and readily available. Despite this, biodiesel usage is not common in Africa, particularly Nigeria. This project will create an awareness campaign for students, the local population, private organizations and governmental agencies through seminars and symposiums at schools for the younger generation and at the community level. The goal is that a community-based biodiesel distribution program will benefit local economies, from the farmers growing the feedstocks to local businesses producing and distributing the fuel to the end consumer.
