GEM and Yavapai College will offer a hands-on science education through a field experience program for underserved college students. The program will offer students the opportunity to apply their knowledge, broaden perspectives on conservation, and gain insight into managing public lands. GEM is seeking to address the problem that 90% of lower-income, first generation college students do not graduate within 6 years of beginning. This program will emphasize that science is for everyone, by increasing community access to and engagement with STEM among other outreach activities.
