Reduction of flood risk depends on the amount of information on floods available to community members. This project will make information on flooding causes and mitigation more available and foster the community’s ability to use and access science when making decisions. The community event will help people learn to make home-made flood warning systems, teach them about the impacts of deforestation and improper refuse disposal on flooding, and encourage them to plant trees. Through presentations, workshops and building flood warning systems, this knowledge can be shared and distributed throughout the community.
