This project aims to work with the communities located at Bakassi on raising awareness and training the local population to prevent and respond to oil spills. It’s been estimated that between 7 million to 10 million barrels have been spilt since oil drilling began in Cameroon. This program will provide survival tips and training on the effects and dangers of oil spillage such as human health risk, damage to the ecosystem, and air pollution leading to illness, among others. It will also aim to draw the attention of the government, private organizations, and outside individuals to these problems.
