SCIENCE AND STORYTELLING: A COMMUNICATION WORKSHOP FOR PHD STUDENTS AND EARLY CAREER SCIENTISTS AT ICP13 – VIVIEN CUMMING, SYDNEY

A public audience is more responsive to the narrative or story in science communication; producing an engaging story is a way to make science stand out and leave a lasting impression given the passion scientists have for their work. However, it can difficult to scientists to write these stories on top of their existing workloads. This project aims to help PhD students and early career scientists find the story in their science and communicate that to the public. Through workshops during an Earth science conference, participants will receive support and advice, and learn how to the curate, edit and share photos, videos and writing produced throughout the conference.
