STEM TOOLS FOR COMMUNITY-BASED LANDSCAPE MAPPING – LISA DECHANO-COOK, WESTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY

This program will help K-12 students improve their understanding of Earth science through introducing concepts and tools common to Earth science, including drone technology, topographic maps, and terrain/landscape models. The program will run throughout the 2019-2020 school year and will culminate with students presenting their findings at the end of the year around Earth Day. The process and experience will be documented and shared so that geoscience experts, university faculty and K-12 teachers can adopt similar approach in their communities.
