THE RELEVANCE OF INDIGENOUS KNOWLEDGE TO DISASTER MANAGEMENT – IKEMEFUNA DEBORAH, BLACK HERITAGE PROMOTIONS, DOUALA, CAMEROON

Indigenous knowledge is important as it encourages community participation and empowers communities in reducing disaster risk with minimum external support. This program will be held in Douala, Cameroon and will document the indigenous knowledge used in disaster management. Once documented, indigenous knowledge can offer insights on its value to scientists and disaster managers and can be viewed as a lens through which scientists can look when managing disasters.
